Week 2 – January Food Tip – Uses for Ripe Bananas
Bananas ripen quickly in the desert, so I have come up with
a few favorite things to do with them:

- Peel the banana, wrap it in plastic and freeze it.
Use 1: take it from the freezer and let it set for
about 10 min. Slice and use in your favorite smoothie. If you use frozen fruit, you don’t need to use ice cubes.
Use 2: take it from the freezer and let it set for about 10 minutes. Slice it into a bowl and eat. Frozen bananas taste sweeter than when they are fresh. This is a great treat for children because it’s healthy and you don’t
need to add anything to it.
2. Peel and mash the banana and measure out enough for your favorite banana bread or muffin recipe. Spoon into plastic freezer container, or bag, and freeze it. When you are ready to make the bread, just thaw in the refrigerator.
3. Peel and slice the ripened banana and dehydrate your own banana chips. A great chewy snack that is healthy the
way it is, or use it to add to your own trail mix.
