Garage Sales and Thrift Stores

Since my move to Washington I have been enjoying the fact that I have numerous thrift stores available to me.  I have been making frequent trips looking for things that I can either use as is, or add my own touch remaking into something else.

Picture Frames for??

And now garage sale season has started! Yay!

Plates and Saucers

I have found that I can get the most wonderful things at garage sales.  I love the ones that are located out in the country, away from the home developments.  I guess that the people that live out there just have more things that are to my liking. Maybe we have more in common?

Antique Table & Handmade Crochet Doily

Like this little table with the handmade doily.  My sister and I drove for miles, we really didn’t have any idea where this garage sale was.  Good thing we had the GPS, LOL! And when we got there, the ladies were so friendly, they actually had a lot of people coming and going.  They had plants that they grew and potted in containers, and lots of antique dishes.  They also had cookies! (OK, I didn’t eat any, being good!) and they were obviously people that could take things most would think of as junk, and make it into something wonderful.  My kind of people.

Well, I was looking for a really small table for a corner of my bathroom.  And there it was! This little, adorable table.  And the doily was made by the lady’s mother, and was only $2.  If you can believe that! I don’t know if I am going to leave the table like this, or paint it.  But I absolutely love it!  These are the kind things that end up being my favorite!

These are some pictures of some of some of the (many) things I have gathered.  Just a peek!!  I will be talking about most of these later.  After I do a little wall painting, and some remaking, and …………………….

I will show you the before and after pictures as I get them done. I really need to move it, company coming in and out starting next month! Ouch!

Thanks for coming along and sharing with me!

It’s Been Awhile……….

I haven’t been here (posting that is) at All My Eggs since December.  I didn’t realize it had been that long.  I guess it’s because I have posted a few times over at The Stitchin’ Chicken, and been so busy with my Etsy and Artfire shops.

Well, here is what has been going on….

I relocated (moved) back to Washington state the first of March. We still have the house in Arizona, and it has been on the market. That was keeping me tremendously  busy, trying to keep the house spotless for showing, and packing to move! lol!

I started a new Etsy store.  I decided that while I am not working, and actively looking, for a ‘real job’ I would work on my Etsy stores.  So I started Creative Trims!  I am selling rick rack, grosgrain ribbon in several colors and sizes, organza ribbon, grosgrain ribbon with dots, several sizes, and will be adding more options as time goes on.  So far, I have had a few sales, and I am hopeful that sales will increase!!!  (so if you are looking for great prices on trim, stop by!)  (By the way, I am having a grand opening sale over at Etsy.  Use Coupon code “GRANDOPENING2011″ and receive 10% off!) This is definitely keeping me busy! You can also find me on Artfire.

My store links are also located  in my sidebar if you would like to click over to visit.

Then there is the painting….I have to paint! wink, wink!  The new house is all in greens and peach inside, and I am a tan, blue and white person.  So room by room I am getting that done.

Kitchen eating nook after...

It’s hard to capture the new colors but it is a light tan with slight yellow undertones.  So much more cheerful!

Part of bedroom before..

Same space now.

I also painted the curtain rods silver, they were antique gold before.

I have also painted our living room, the pantry and our foyer.  Currently working on our mudroom/hall/laundry, our 1/2 bath, and the master bath.  Pictures to follow when I’m done…

And then there is the yard!  The gardens were pretty much let go and only the grass was getting mowed since we purchased it last June.  So the multitude of gardens here are way overrun with weeds and other undesirable (and unknown) plants.  And of course, I am discovering new bulbs and plants that are showing their beautiful blooms.  It is like finding a wonderful prize every time I look around! These first pictures are about two weeks old (this is just a little peek). I will post some updated ones later this week, things are changing quickly…..

Needless to say, we have been incredibly busy trying to get things in order.

I have been making bread again, and making all of my homemade cleaning supplies.  Hitting the thrift stores (I will share some wonderful finds later!). Just trying to get things organized and make this house a home.

I am researching some new things to make and share with you, including recipes (for both food and cleaning) and some furniture re-dos.  So I hope you will check back and join me on this new adventure!

Thanks for coming by and reading!
